The Quiet Fields (titled The Killing Fields in the UK version) is the final episode of season 2 of Meerkat Manor.

Summary

At the Whiskers new burrow, Flower's latest litter, Milly, Shelly and Bing are getting ready for their second foraging trip. Meanwhile Mozart and her litter are still living at the old burrow. Without anyone to help her raise her pups, Mozart's offspring have a slim chance of survival. Instead of foraging she stays at the burrow with them. Not far away the Commandos intrude onto Whiskers' territory and claim the land as their own. Hannibal leads them into the direction of one of the Whiskers' main burrows, where they spend the night.

The next morning Mozart emerges from her den. Having not eaten for two days she finally leaves to search for food. The appearence of an eagle makes her uncomfortable and forces her to drift further away from her pups, leaving them very vulnerable. The Commandos awaken and immediately head deeper into Whiskers territory. They discover Mozart's burrow and Nikita heads below to kill the pups. Meanwhile, Mozart continues her search for food, unaware of the fate of her pups. Not far away, the Whiskers settle down at home after avoiding an encounter with an eagle. They are completely unaware of the Commandos raiding their territory.

-The Manor is gradually changing; sand is beginning to reclaim the desert. With food becoming scarcer, the need to for meerkat groups to expand territory is rising. the Commandos in particular are more keen than ever to secure good foraging grounds. The vicious gang has left their own land to invade Whiskers territory. Hannibal and his chaotic Commanods rapidly scent-mark over the Whiskers' property and advance deeper into their enemy's territory.
-Mozart, in the meantime, is still all alone. She realises that her family aren't returning.
-The Whiskers are oblivious to Mozart's plight, and the fact that the Commandos are settling into one of their own burrows.
-Mozart awakens to her third day of being alone. She is finally forced to leave the burrow unprotected so she can eat and produce milk for her offspring. She is unaware of the Commanods making quick progress towards the den where her pups are hidden.
-An eagle makes Mozart drift further away from her pups and, unwittingly, her family who are trapped by the predatory bird.
-The Commandos come across Mozart's burrow during their territorial raid. The cry of a pup attracts their dominant female, Nikita, who goes below to find them. With no one to protect them, Mozart's pups fall victim to the vicious gang.
-Oblivious to the fate that has befallen her pups, Mozart continues to forage. She is, unwittingly, heading closer towards her family. With her litter gone, the chances of her returning into the Whiskers look favorable. The Whiskers have all made it home safely, after the encounter with the eagle. It's been another good year for the family, but with the Commandos endlessly advancing into their territory, the battle for survival will continue.
