Young Blood is the third episode of the second season of the hit telivision series, Meerkat Manor.
Summary
Its been two days sice the Whiskers secretly trespassed in Commandos territory, and so far they've gotten away with it. Flower leads out the foraging party to forage on their own land. The three Whiskers rovers, Youssarian , Big Will and Mitch, were still looking for females to mate with at the Lazuli. What they find are a couple of Lazuli babysitters looking after Cazanna's two two month old pups, Bubble and Squeek. As young Mitch creeps closer to one of the young babysitters, Maryline, he is quickly chased off by a group of male babysitters. Youssarian is also immidietly chased off on sight and when Big Will tries to creep closer, he is also chased off sending the last of the three Amigos packing. Back in Whiskers territory, the foraging party has entered the river bed where a pair of nesting plover birds were guarding their eggs. The Whiskers had a stand off, and the plovers quickly chased most of them off, but Einstein, one of the young meerkats from Flower's first litter of the previous season, tries to creep closer, but he is soon spotted by the plover birds and chased off as well. After an invent full foraging afternoon, the Whiskers return back to their sleeping burrow, atleast with the Rovers back, the gang are at full strength, but as the Whiskers rest at their burrow, they were unaware of their fearsome neighbors entering their territory. The Commandos have secretly entered the Whiskers territory and were making themselves at home on one of the Whiskers burrows. By next mourning the Whiskers were still tightly curled up under ground in their burrow, While the Commandos, led by their dominant male, the one eyed Hannibal, were already up and ready for action. The Commandos head out on their afternoon request. The Whiskers had finally woken up and Flower led them out to fing food. An Oryx had succumbed to the Winter drought and had died in Lazuli territory, attracting vultures and so making the Lazuli meerkats very nervous. Cazanna, their dominant female, casted a lonely figure. With no unrelated males in the group to mate with, her chances of successfully breeding again were very slim and this predicament made her two surviving pups, Bubble and Squeek, very valuable. Today, they were being babysat at the Lazuli burrow by maryline. Maryline stayed very vigilant and was not distracted, patiently waiting for her family to return. While she was staying on full alert, unfortunately the Lazuli were not the first family to appear at the burrow, the Commandos had found young Maryline home alone, one small meerkat against a gang of 25 doesn't stand a chance. The Commandos charged towards the Lazuli burrow. Faced with these odds Maryline wasn't going to risk a fight and ran for her life while hotly pursued by a team of four Commandos meerkats , leaving Cazanna's two defenceless pups to face the Commandos alone. The Commandos invaded the Lazuli burrow and while Ozzy, Hannibal's son and the rest of the Commandos were staying on guard looking out for the return of the Lazuli and digging furiously to widen the burrow entrances, Nikita, the Commandos dominant female, enterd the burrow in search of any Lazuli pups. After searching for a few minutes, Nikta dragged one of the pups, Bubble, out of the burrow and killed and ate the pup viciously. Soon the Lazuli returned and seeing the owners of the burrow and having got what they came for, the Commandos fled. The Lazuli reached their burrow to asses the damage. Maryline showed up bleeding and wounded after the Commandos attacked her viciously and nearly killed her. The Lazuli were very aware that they had lost a pup, but their only consolation is that one of the pups, Squeek, had amazingly survived the attack unharmed. In that one surving pup, the spirit of Big Si, their former dominant male, lived on. Although the Lazuli pulled through the tragedy, the Commandos raid had been another devastating blow for the Lazuli. Not only did Big Si die leaving Cazanna without an unrelated breeding male, one of his pups had been killed and a young adult was mortally wounded. The Lazuli were looking like a spent force and not a massive threat to the Whiskers, they used to be.
